The Forms
You, water, were enfleshed by unsuspecting forms:
As a misshapen cactus, two-feet tall,
as a copper fur fox
roving across the canyon,
as sapphire blue dragonflies
dreaming of their lakebed.
You were deep and forgotten
and buried under the desert floor.
How did I know you were there at all?
Your secret presence
balmed the lips of an open cedar seed.
From my own body fell fat salty tears.
